First Kiss
By Carmen Scott with Images from Erica Morrison
There wasn’t much left to say as the
day yawns into dusk
Tiredness forms in soft downy
consonants and vowels; to form
sleep-shaped dreams of duvets in
my words
And like a blanket I fall warmly on
your face. There was a crooked smile
That cracked like an earthquake in
my heart and spliced cleanly through my doubts.
A celestial pin cushion of stars,
decorated our moment with a glow
that nourished
In that first moment as the sun took
absence to leave the stage for the
first act..
The seeds of a first kiss flourished.
