The Duck By Chris Drupp

The Duck by Anon

Lone duck floating on the river

Relaxed in the sunshine, watching the world go by

Riding the undulations of the water with ease

Careless

Carefree

Seemingly without a care

Yet under the water, webbed feet wade furiously against the current

Trying desperately to not get carried away, fighting the flow

Furiously, frantically trying to stay in one place, this place, here and now

For there is safety here in the known

Along with life diminishing

Black, faceless uncertainty around the bend

With possibilities, scary and enticing

Where do you go duck, which way will you turn?
